Lose Weight with Wii Gaming System

Even as a Dietitian , I have still always struggled with maintaining my weight. I'm also a "foodie" - someone who loves to cook and eat! But having my own challenges with weight, you know that I understand how difficult losing weight and maintaining the weight loss can be. (Compared to those who have never had a weight problem - they just don't "get it". You know what I'm talking about.) So I'm always looking for new and fun ways to exercise.

When my son got a Nintendo Wii console gaming system, I found an alternative to traditional exercising - you know, walking, jogging, work-outs, gym, exercise classes, which are all still very good options. But the more fun you can have while exercising, the less it's like "exercise" and the more often and longer you'll do it. And that is the key to maintaining weight loss - move more and eat less.

So why do I suggest the Nintendo Wii? It has wireless remotes and several gaming options that cause a body to move around - some games more than others, and depending on how active you get while playing the game. The Championship Boxing is a favorite of mine. I love getting into the ring (so to speak) and sparring with my opponent. Really gets the heart beating as I punch at my opponent and try to win the match. I really get into it and lose track of time as I keep trying again and again to master the game. The great thing about it is that it keeps me entertained so that I actually do eat less and move more - and have lost weight!

There are so many video games to choose from for the Nintendo Wii gaming system with more coming all the time. Golf, tennis, football, basketball, baseball, bowling, soccer, wrestling. The guys can even get moving more by playing their favorite sport. I have always loved to dance and there is a new game coming out soon called Dancing with the Stars. If it lives up to the TV show, it should be awesome. That may become my new favorite!

Until we meet again,

Eat to Live, Live to Play - Just Do It!
